Nguyên tắc bố trí phòng thờ
Trong vũ trụ mỗi vật thể lại được chia thành những vũ trụ nhỏ, có đầy đủ 5 yếu tố(kim,mộc,thủy,hỏa,thổ) và cân bằng âm dương. bàn thờ hay nhà thờ cũng đều phải tuân thủ nhưng nguyên tắc chặt chẽ trên.
cũng như một gia đình hạn phúc phải có vợ có chồng, con trai có gái, như vậy mới gọi là trọn vẹn hay cân bằng âm dương.
sau đây là những nguyên tắc chính.

Trong phong thủy có câu ” nhất vị, nhị hướng ” tức vị trí ban thờ phải đẹp, minh đường (không gian thờ) phải rộng thoáng, không gần nơi ô uế (nhà vệ sinh, bếp, hầm bể phốt..), sau đó mới đến hướng bàn thờ.

Nguyên tắc trong tĩnh ngoài động của phòng thờ ( hay sau tĩnh trước động), đó chính là sau lưng lô nhang là tĩnh. Theo tục lệ người việt một số nơi đã quên nguyên tắc này do có án thờ, ngai thờ, ỷ thờ nên một số nơi đã đặt mâm lễ hay mâm hoa quả sau lô nhang. họ cho rằng người đã khuất sẽ về ngự trên ngai hay án, để tiện bề hưởng hương hoa quả nên bày sau lô nhang cho gần. thực chất nguyên tắc này sai, chỉ có người phàm mới tiện tay lấy ăn thôi chứ hương hoa trên bàn thờ chỗ nào người âm cũng có thể hưởng, nhưng vô tình mâm lễ sau lô nhanh đã làm động tới lô nhang( trong khi lô nhang đã yên vị) và cũng chính sự di chuyển của tay người sắp lễ đã gây yếu tố động sau lô nhang. do đo người nhà có những kiểu sắp lễ như vậy thường có tính bảo thủ hay nóng bất chợt, khó kìm chế cảm xúc. yếu tố động trướng lô nhang ở đây ý nói là phía trước lô nhang có nước, có trà , có rượu, có mâm hoa quả. tượng trưng cho câu thủy tụ minh đường(nước tụ phía trước) để nói lên sự phát triển không ngừng trong tương lai.

Nguyên tắc trong tĩnh có động, trong động có tĩnh của phòng thờ. ý nhĩa là cân bằng âm dương, trong âm có dương và trong dương có âm, nếu không cân bằng về âm dương thì sẽ sảy ra vấn đề là âm thịnh dương suy hay dương thị âm suy, hay giống như gia đình có trai có gái mới vẹn toàn, nếu không xã hội sẽ mất cân bằng về giới tính( 1 vợ mà 3-4 chồng hay 1 chồng mà 3-4 vợ). Ý nghĩa ở đây là trong tĩnh có động đó là lô nhang là tĩnh nhưng rất cần nhang khói thường xuyên vào các dịp lễ tết hay ngày không vong và trung cung( cuối, đầu, giữa tháng), để tránh ban thờ không ai chăm sóc nhang khói, khiến người âm bị bỏ đói lang thang cơ nhỡ quay về bắt hại con cháu hay chù đập(vì âm có luật âm, dương có luật dương). có người sẽ nói tại sao đạo khác không dùng nhang, nhưng xin thưa họ không dùng nhang nhưng họ dùng nến. đối với đạo mẫu việt nam thì vừa dùng nhang lại dùng cả đèn đầu hay điện thể hiện yếu tố cân bằng đó là hỏa. hỏa rất qua trọng trong vũ trụ hay đời sống hàng ngày của con người. ngoài động có tĩnh ý nghĩa ở đây là thủy là động nhưng cần trạng thái tĩnh( tức là thủy phải tụ), thủy mà động gọi là tán, nên nước, trà, rượu, mâm hoa quả là trạng thái động nên bày ở bên ngoài, nhưng cũng cần phải ngăn nắp sạch sẽ.

Nguyên tắc tứ chính (hay gọi là hình thế) của phòng thờ. tức là trái phải, trong ngoài(hay trước sau). xét theo hướng ban thờ thì bên tay trái được xem là thanh long đại diện cho nam(long luôn động) tức là lễ thuộc dạng nước( rượu,bia,nước ngọt…) hoa quả thì luôn bày bên trái ban thờ. Bên phía tay phải được xem là bạch hổ (hổ luôn tỉnh) tức là lễ thuộc dạng tĩnh như bánh kẹo, vàng bạc đều bày bên tay phải vì tay phải bạch hổ được xem như kho cất giữ lưu trữ, đại diện cho nữ nên cần phải tĩnh. chu tước cũng thuộc động nhưng mềm mại uyển chuyển( dạng thưởng thức hay sân biểu diễn ca múa nhạc, trình tấu) cần thoáng đãng chỉ để cốc, ly rót trà rượu, lưu hương( thắp nhang trầm). đại diện cho sự cung phụng chu cấp, cống nạp tiền bạc. Sau lưng huyền vũ đại diện cho suy uy vũ quyền lực, chỗ dựa vững vàng chắc chắn như sơn(núi). có câu sơn quản nhân đinh, thủy cai tài vận đó chính là nói lên ý nghĩa này sau lưng chủ sự về con người cần sự điềm tĩnh suy xét, luôn luôn lắng nghe để thấu hiểu.

Nguyên tắc âm dương của phòng thờ hay bàn thờ: đó chính là bàn thờ hay phòng thờ cần phải yên tĩnh không được quá vượng sáng, vì ánh sáng mang năng lượng dương sẽ xua tan đi tính âm (người âm), tuy nhiên phòng thờ hay ban thờ cũng cần phải sạch sẽ thoáng đãng không nên bí hay tù túng. nếu bàn thờ chung cư thì nên có các vách CNC trang trí hay dèm để giúp tránh dương thịnh khiến cho âm suy, ánh sáng chủ đạo của phòng thờ đó là vàng, ánh sáng vàng sẽ mang nguồn năng lượng tích cực vui vẻ hòa đồng, cũng thể hiện sự ấm cúng. nếu không tin quý khách có thể dùng ánh sáng đèn vàng thắp vào mùa đông quý khách sẽ cảm nhận được nhiệt ấm khi bước vào căn phòng đầy ánh sáng vàng. đặc biệt lễ tết hay lúc sum vầy trong đại gia đình.
