Gỗ óc chó tự nhiên có tên tiếng Anh Walnut, tên khoa học là Juglan Nigra – là một loại gỗ nhập khẩu và không có trong các nhóm gỗ của Việt Nam.Trên thế giới, cây óc chó được trồng nhiều ở các nước Ba Tư cũ, ngoài ra loại gỗ này được trồng nhiều ở các khu rừng nước anh, miền Nam California Mỹ và đặc biệt nhất là khu vực Bắc Mỹ. Gỗ có nguồn gỗ từ Bắc Mỹ được đánh giá cao nhất cả về chất lượng đến tính thẩm mỹ với gam màu nâu đậm sang trọng, vân gỗ cuộn xoáy đẹp mắt. Gỗ óc chó không có ở các nước châu Á vì khí hậu và đất ở khu vực này không phù hợp với sự sinh trưởng của gỗ óc chó.
Gỗ óc chó có độ cứng hoàn hảo, dát gỗ màu kem, tâm gỗ có màu từ nâu nhạt đến socola, đặt biệt dòng gỗ này sở hữu hệ vân cuộn xoáy tự nhiên, đẹp mắt, sang trong mà không có bất cứ một loại gỗ nào có được.
Gỗ óc chó tự nhiên được xếp vào nhóm gỗ quý, không những được ưa chuộng ở Việt Nam mà còn được yêu thích ở rất nhiều nước phát triển trên thế giới.

Hiện nay do gỗ óc chó tự nhiên giá thành quá cao, nên ngành vật liệu nội thất đã cho ra đời loại ván veneer óc chó để đáp ứng mọi khách hàng, phù hợp mọi công trình.
Veneer óc chó là gì?
Veneer óc chó tự nhiên là gỗ óc chó được lạng mỏng rồi được dán lên các cốt gỗ công nghiệp như: ván gỗ MDF, ván dăm, gỗ dán Plywood … Sau khi dán miếng Veneer lên nền ván rồi, tiến hành nối từng đoạn không dính liền giữa tấm Veneer lại với nhau.
Vì nền ván thông thường lấy quy cách chuẩn là 1200x2400mm, trong khi đó miếng Veneer được xẻ ra chỉ có độ rộng theo đường kính của cây gỗ, vì vậy để đạt độ rộng 1200mm chẳng hạn ta phải nối ít nhất 3 miếng Veneer có chiều rộng 400mm mới đủ.
Ép tấm này lại bằng máy (ép nguội hoặc ép nóng) đến khi dính và phẳng mặt. Cuối cùng dùng máy chà nhám tạo cho bề mặt Veneer láng đẹp,Nếu gỗ được phủ lớp sơn bảo vệ trên bề mặt thì sản phẩm sẽ rất bền bỉ về màu sắc hơn nữa còn làm nổi bật vẻ tự nhiên qua các đường vân gỗ và mắt gỗ Óc Chó.Gỗ có thể được ghép vân tinh tế
